1 in 6 CANADIAN CHILDREN STRUGGLE WITH LOW LITERACY.
Low childhood literacy is connected to mental health struggles, low civic engagement, and even more negative outcomes like poverty, addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. What we fail to do now can last a lifetime.

Left Unread is a movement declaring that our children deserve the opportunity to realize their full potential. Low literacy in childhood is not acceptable. If we work together to fill our communities with that message — we can finally fill our children’s world with words.
We promised them a story.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Reading to a child. Joining a book club. Supporting libraries. Displaying a lawn sign. There are lots of ways to promote literacy and the love of reading. We’re also advocating for more data and investment and coordination with community leaders.
We all have a role to play.
